It’s 6am. Your alarm has been going off but you keep hitting the snooze button. Worst of all, it’s Monday. Getting out of bed can be tough for anyone, but especially when you aren’t a morning person. If you’re like us and dread getting out of bed, then you will love these tips that’ll wake you up and put a smile on your face for the rest of the day.
Drink Water with Lemon Slices
Drinking ice cold water with a slice or two of fresh lemon can give you an energizing boost in the morning without the crash that caffeine can give you. It also helps to improve your immune system through all of that very necessary Vitamin C. If you haven’t already, check out our our blog post about the healthy benefits of lemon water.
Sun Salutations
While yoga is a great way to stretch out your muscles in the morning, you may not have time for a full yoga sesh. Our favorite way to stretch out after sleeping curled up in a ball style is through sun salutations. This 5-minute yoga sequence is quick, easy and helps wake up your muscles to get you prepared for your day. Here’s a quick step by step guide on how to do these simple yoga poses.
Cold Shower
We know how horrible this sounds. The last thing you want to do in the morning is jump into a cold shower. But, maybe after you preform your Sun Salutations, you will be a bit more willing to jump right in. There are many benefits to cold showers. The cold not only wakes you up but wakes your body up, making it work extra hard to get your body temp back to normal which burns calories. Moreover, cold water helps keep your skin healthy. It closes your pores to block out dirt and keeps your skin (and hair) healthy and beautiful. So, take a deep breath and jump on in, your body will thank you later.
Journal
You should always make time for yourself. Starting your day by writing in a journal or simply telling yourself a positive mantra can keep you happy all day. Journaling keeps you accountable for plans you might have or goals you are trying to keep. It can also help give you perspective about what’s going on in your life. Taking time to be with you is how you stay mentally healthy. Even if you just write one sentence about what you are looking forward to, it makes a big impact on keeping your mind, and body, happy all day.
Now you are all ready to take on the day with a smile on your face! And, hey, if you are still tired, don’t forget to grab an ice cold Bai on your way out the door to help give you a healthy caffeine boost to go that extra mile.
