Picnic Packing Hacks

Nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned picnic. Whether you are going on a romantic date or catching up with old friends, a picnic is a cost-effective way to enjoy lunch in the great outdoors. If you’re heading to the beach to enjoy the salty air and warm sand or to a park close by your house, here are some key elements to remember besides your food:

If You’re Beachin’ It…

Baby powder is a key essential when going to the beach. Nothing ruins a lunch quicker than actual sand in your sandwiches. Best way to get rid of those sandy hands is by putting a little baby powder on your hands and rubbing them together until the sand has completely come off. Not only will your hands be sand free for eating, but they’ll also be smooth as silk.

Opting For That Woodsy Lunch Vibe…

If you decide to go for a hike that ends with a picnic, be sure to pack plenty of deep woods bug spray. Food attracts bugs, but so does sweet smelling perfume and lotion. Switch your perfume for a spritz of bug spray instead. It will keep you from itchy bug bites and let you enjoy your hike more as well as your packed lunch.

The Standard Park N’ Eat…

If you’re keeping it old school and going to a park, be careful of where you sit. Ant hills tend to be built very closely to walkways, so the further in the grass you are, the better off you will be on avoiding pesky ants. However, the best way to keep ants away from you is by filling a spray bottle with water and about 10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Spray a perimeter around your picnic area to keep ants out. It acts like a moat, as ants hate the smell and won’t cross over the line.

The Fun Stuff…

No matter where you to picnic, be sure to bring games that everyone can enjoy (what better time to play Twister?!). Some places provide picnic areas equipped with benches and grills. Even if you don’t have this option, you can stay comfy by bringing some throw pillows to sit on. And of course, remember to pack plenty of Bai to stay hydrated while you find that perfect location to post up.
